This explains what Selida collects when you track your reading, why, and how to control or remove it.
Selida is a book discovery and reading-tracker app. To do its job — tracking what you're reading, timing your sessions, and recommending books you'll like — it needs to store some information about your account and your reading activity. This policy covers exactly what that is, why we keep it, and what you can do about it.
We collect your account details, your own reading activity, and basic information about how the app is used and when it breaks. We don't run ads, don't use analytics or tracking SDKs, and don't sell data to anyone.
We collect information in the categories below. Most of it is tied to your account; the exception is basic usage information recorded before you sign up, which is tied only to an anonymous app identifier:
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Account information | Email address, password (stored securely by our authentication provider — we never see it in plain text), display name, preferred language, and country/catalog preference. |
| Reading activity | Books you add to your reading list, their status (wishlist, reading, completed), reading progress, and reading session timestamps and durations. |
| App activity | Actions like viewing a book's details or adding it to your wishlist, used to power recommendations. Search terms you enter, along with how many results they returned, so we can find books our catalog is missing. Optional feedback you choose to submit through the app. |
| Usage | Which screens you open, when you open the app, and whether you completed sign-up and setup — so we can see where people get stuck and fix it. This is recorded against a random identifier we generate when the app is first opened; it is not derived from your device's hardware, it tells us nothing about you personally, and it is erased when you uninstall the app. Once you have an account, this information is linked to it. |
| Diagnostics | When something in the app goes wrong, we record a technical description of the failure, your device platform (iOS, Android, or web), and the app version, so we can fix it. These reports are stored on our own servers — we don't use a third-party crash-reporting service — and contain no reading data or message content. |
We do not request access to your camera, photo library, contacts, or location — Selida doesn't use any of them.
Your data is stored with Supabase, our backend and database provider, hosted on infrastructure in the European Union (Stockholm, Sweden). Access to your data is restricted so that only you can read or modify your own account, reading list, and activity — this is enforced at the database level, not just in the app.
Selida works with a small, deliberately short list of outside services:
No analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, no crash-reporting trackers, no social-login data sharing. Selida doesn't include any of them.
Deleting your account removes everything that identifies you. A small amount of anonymized diagnostic data (not linked back to you) may be kept — see the account deletion page for the exact detail.
We keep your account and reading data for as long as your account exists, so that your reading history and recommendations stay intact between sessions. When you delete your account, your data is removed immediately and permanently.
Selida is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Selida's infrastructure is based in the European Union. If you use Selida from outside the EU, your information will be transferred to and processed in the EU, under the safeguards our infrastructure provider maintains.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Selida after a change means you accept the update.
